Today, we will discuss about Salman Al-Farisi, one Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba who originated from Persia and experienced long journey to convert to Islam and meet Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam at Medina, Saudi Arabia.Ok, please read this article until end and subscribe my blog for more information about Islamic History and Civilization. Salman, born at 568 AD, at Isfahan/Jayyan, Empire Of Persia ( now Iran). He has original name Rouzbeh Koshnudan. Name Salman, given by Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam when Salman convert to Islam. His father, is Mayor Of Isfahan. Salman and his family, adherent Zoroastrianism, Persian Traditional Religion. And, he work as one religion worker who keep fire that worshipped by Zoroastrianism Peoples.
One day, Salman entered one curch and he seeing Christians People worshipped. Salman, interest to Christian Religion and he tell his father. His father angry and chained Salman s feeds at house.
But, Salman can escaped and he go to Syria with one caravan. At Syria, he meet one Christian Priest and he said, he want entered Christian Religion and studied about Christian Religion to this priest. Salman studied Christian and he serve this priest. But, he seeing this priest is doesnt pious man. This priest forced his congregations pay to him several moneys. He said it is for pour man. And, the priest collect their congregations assets for himself.
One day, this priest die and his congregations gather for burried him. Salman tell this priest s behavior and show them assets that collect by this priest. This priest s congregations, angry and they crucifixion this priest and throw him with rocks.
After this, Salman stay with this priest s successor. This new priest, is pious man. He doing Christians Worship with diligent and life simplifly. When this new priest die, Salman get advise from this priest before his die to went to Mosul, Iraq. Because at Mosul, exist one priest who adherent Christian according Propeth Isa Alaihissalam s teaching. After Priest Of Mosul die, Salman ever studied to Priest Of Nusaibin , Priest Of Harran, and Priest Of Amuria. According Palestinian Historian Jihad at-Turbani, Several priests that became Salman s teacher, such as Priests at Amuria, Mosul, and Harran still adherent Christian Teaching according Propeth Isa Alaihissalam s teaching.
When Priest Of Amuria, last Salman teacher, was near from his die, he advise to Salman for going to Arabia Peninsula, because propechy about arrival of one propeth who re establish Propeth Ibrahim Alaihissalam s religion. This priest said, this propeth doesnt eat alms, but eat give and this propeth also has propechy s mark at his shoulder. Salman want go to Arabia Peninsula to meet this propeth. He join one Arabian Caravan that went to Arabia Peninsula.
They sell Salman to one Jewish at Medina as slave. Salman because this Jewish s slave and h work at this Jewish s palmfruits garden.
One day, this Jewish said: “May Allah kill Bani Qayla ( Aus and Khazraj, Medina Natives) , today, they gather for wait one man from Mecca who confess himself as propeth “
Salman ask this Jewish about his statement. This Jewish hit Salman and said: “What your bussiness, go to work”!.
At 622 AD, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam moved from Mecca to Medina, Salman, tried to meet Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam at Medina and he want to test about Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s propechy with give alms. Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam rejected it, but when Salman said it is give, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam receive it. Salman, also seeing Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s mark at Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shoulder.
After this, Salman convert to Islam. He became one prime Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba, may Allah Subhanahuwataala bless him.
