Story Of Abu Sufyan Ibn Harith: Repentance from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s Nephew.

Today, we will discuss about Abu Sufyan Ibn Harith, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s nephew who became Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s enemy at begin his life, but became Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s defender at end of his life. His fullname is Mughira Ibn Harith Ibn Abd Mutthalib Ibn Hashim al-Hashimi. He is one poet at Pre Islamic Era. According DR.Abdurrahman Rafat Basya, Syrian Historian, he is Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s peer. Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam born at 632 AD, and maybe Abu Sufyan born at same year.  Abu Sufyan s father, Harith is brother from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s father, Abdullah. Abu Sufyan and Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam also milking by Halima as-Sadiya. He grown up with Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and they are became closefriend. Until, people analyze that Abu Sufyan will became first man who receive Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s preach. But, it is false.

Abu Sufyan is one man who became Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s enemy. He write poem for discredited Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and also doing anything for defeat Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. He used his sword for attack Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam.  He lead Pagan Quraish Army at Battle Of Uhud 625 AD and defeat Muslims Army under Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam at this battle. He also lead Arab Coalitions for defeat Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam at Battle Of Khandaq, 627 AD. According Imam Dhahabi, at this event, he lead 4000 Quraish Army and other army from their ally. But, Quraish Army can defeated by Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam at this era.

And, at 630 AD, Muslims Army under Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam can conquer of Mecca, basic from Pagan Quraish s Goverment.  Abu Sufyan , that at this time, stay at Mecca fear Muslims Army will kill him.  He invited his wife and his childs for leave Mecca. But, his wife and his childs invited him for convert to Islam. Abu Sufyan, convert to Islam.  He join Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam at Battle Of Hunayn.

This battle broke at January 630 AD and at this battle, Muslims Army faced Hawazin Army, one Arabian Tribe that supported by Farroukhzad, guardian from Kingdom Of Persia. Battle broke and at this battle, Muslims Army forced and according Imam Dhahabi,  Tribe Of Sulaym s cavalries that fight at Muslims Side, retreat, joined by Muslims Army from Mecca.  Muslims Army forced and Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam call they for fight. Abu Sufyan, is one Muslims Warrior who defend at this war and doesnt retreat.  He with Abbas Ibn Abd Mutthalib, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s uncle, defend with Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam when Muslims Army escaped from the battle. At 636 AD, Abu Sufyan join Battle Of Yarmouk beetwen Muslims and Byzantine Army at era of Caliph Umar Ibn Khattab. He became orator at Muslims Army and lost one his eye because Byzantine Warrior s arrow. But, Muslims Army can achieve victory at this battle.

According Imam Dhahabi, Abu Sufyan die at 20 Hijriyya. He die because when he doing Hajj, he cut his hair. But, the haircutter cut his bloodvessel and it is cause he die. His son, Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan, coronated as Umayyad Caliph at 661 AD.  Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam, such as cited by Imam Dhahabi, said:

“Abu Sufyan Ibn al-Harith is leader from paradise s younger”. May Allah Subhanahuwataala bless him.
