Story Of Abul Ash ibn Rabi: Forgotten Propeth Muhammad Son in Law

Today, we will discuss about Ablu Ash ibn Rabi, forgotten Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  s son in law. And, he became Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s son in law since he not yet convert to Islam. His name is Laqith ibn Rabi ibn Abd Uza ibn Abd Sham ibn Abd Manaf ibn Qushai ibn Kilab al-Qurashi al-Abshami.  He  life at 7 TH Century and cis husband from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s daughter, Zaynab . According Syrian Historian, Abdurrahman Rafat Basya, Abul Ash has handsome face and he is descedant  from  crossbreed Arab-Persian s family.  Abul Ash became one success Quraish merchant.

According Abdurrahman Rafat, Abul Ash caretaken by Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and his first wife, Khadija bint Khuwailid.  Khadija, is aunt from Abul Ash. Propeth Muhammad and Khadija love Abul Ash. Until, Abul Ash grown up and he married Zaynab, daughter from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. When Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam get Islamic revelation, Zaynab convert to Islam and Abul Ash still at his old religion. He still became Pagan. And, at 624 AD, when Pagan Quraish Army want attack Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and Muslims force that was have basic at Medina at Battle Of Badr, Abul Ash forced join with Pagan Quraish. At this battle, Pagan Quraish Army  defeated and Abul Ash became one Muslims Army s prisoner.

Zaynab, know this news, send one messenger to Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam for liberated Abul Ash. She entrust to this messenger Khadija s necklace  for redeem Abul Ash s liberation. Get this necklace, Propeth Muhammad liberated Abul Ash and Abul Ash can back to Mecca. Propeth Muhammad ask Abul Ash send Zaynab to Medina for stay with Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. When meet Zaynab at Mecca, Abul Ash tell this command and he ask his brother, Amr ibn Rabi ( Kinana according Imam Dhahabi)  for protect Zaynab at way to Medina.  Amr and Zaynab went to Medina. At way,  they attacked by several Quraish People. That can blocked by Amr. Zaynab, now stay at Medina with Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Until one day, at 628 AD, 5 month before Covenant Of Hudaibiyya, Abul Ash convert to Islam. According Imam Dhahabi, one day, Abul Ash went for doing trade to Syria with one Quraish Caravan. One Muslims Army attack this caravan and Abul Ash became prisoner. They bring Abul Ash to Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  at Medina. Abul Ash, entered City Of Medina and he meet Zaynab, ask  guarantee of security and tomorrow, when  Propeth Muhammad lead dawn prayer and Zaynab join this pray, Zaynab shouted from line of women that  she was give guarantee to protect Abul Ash. Propeth Muhammad ask Muslims Army who captured Abul Ash for give Abul Ash s assets that they rob.  Abul Ash convert to Islam and Propeth Muhammad back Zaynab to him.

From this marriage, they have one daughter, Umama bint Abul Ash.  According Imam Dhahabi, Umama is Propeth Muhammad s granddaughter who carried by Propeth Muhammad when the propeth prayer, show Propeth Muhammad s attention to her.  Umama married Ali ibn Abi Thalib.  Abul Ash, die at 12 Hijriyya, at era of first caliph of Rashidun Caliphate , Abu Bakr as -Shiddiq ( ruled 632-634 AD).  May Allah Subhanahuwataala bless him.
