Story of Abu Dhar al Ghifary: Man from Robber Tribe Who Became Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s Shahaba

Today, we will discuss about Abu Dhar al-Ghifary, man from robber tribe who convert to Islam and became one Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba. At Waddan, one mount beetwen Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and other territories, life Tribe of Ghifar. This tribe, usually rob Pagan Quraish s traders from Mecca s caravans. And, at 7 TH Century, at this tribe, life Jundub ibn Junada, who has title Abu Dhar.

Jundub a.k.a Abu Dhar dont love Paganism that became religion at Tribe of Ghifar. And, one day, Abu Dhar hear news about Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam was messenged at Mecca. He ask his brother, Unays, for went to Mecca and search news about Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Unays went to Mecca, and after this, he tell Abu Dhar about character from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam . That Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam is one man who teach beautiful morals and his quote is not poem.  Abu Dhar interest and he want meet Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. But, Unays also tell that many people at Mecca mocked Propeth Muhammad as wich, shaman, or poet.

Abu Dhar prepared his provision and went to Mecca for meet Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. He was hear new that Pagan Quraish at Mecca defend their idols and  also tortured people who confess himself join Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s teaching. Abu Dhar doesnt fear and went to Mecca. At Mecca, he stopped at mosque. One Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba, Ali ibn Abi Thalib, meet Abu Dhar and invited Abu Dhar to his house. Abu Dhar stay at Ali s house. He stay at house of Ali for 3 days. And, one day, Ali ask why Abu  Dhar went to Mecca. Abu Dhar said he will meet Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam . Ali invited Abu Dhar to Propeth Muhammad s house. Abu Dhar meet Propeth Muhammad at his house and convert to Islam in front of propeth. Propeth Muhammad read several part from Koran ( Islamic Holy Book).

Propeth Muhammad forbid Abu Dhar announced his new religion in front of Pagan Quraish Peoples. Abu Dhar said he will do it. And, when Abu Dhar announced his new religion at mosque and several Pagan Quraish peoples sit at this place, he get physical violence from them until he fainted and helped by Abbas ibn Abd Mutthalib, uncle from Propeth Muhammad.

After this moment, Abu Dhar back to Tribe of Ghifar and preach at his tribe. His mother and his brother, Unays, convert to Islam. Time to time, many peoples from Tribe of Ghifar convert to Islam. Abu Dhar stay at his village, until Battle of  of Badr (624 AD), Uhud (625 AD), and Khandaq (627 AD). Happened when Propeth Muhammad and his shahabas was stay at Medina. After this, Abu Dhar moved to Medina for became Propeth Muhammad s maid.

At 632 AD, Propeth Muhammad die and replaced by first caliph from Rashidun Caliphate, Caliph Abu Bakr as-Shiddiq ( 632-634 AD).  Abu Dhar leave Medina and stay at Syria until age of goverment Caliph Umar ibn Khattab ( ruled 634-644 AD). When era of Caliph Uthman ibn Affan ( ruled 644-656 AD), he leave his house at Damascus, Syria because Uthman call him to Medina. Abu Dhar stay at Rabdha, one small city at Medina.  Abu Dhar life simple at this place. Syrian Governor under Rashidun Caliphate, Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan send him 300 dinar for him. Abu Dhar rejected it. At 656 AD, Abu Dhar join opposition who want ousted Uthman ibn Affan. This rebellion ended by Uthman s killed by Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr and his gang.
