Said ibn Amr al-Jumahi: Convert to Islam Because Seeing Tortured

Today, we will discuss about Said ibn Amr al-Jumahi, shahaba who convert to Islam because seeing one Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba, Khubaib ibn Adiy tortured by Pagan Quraish at Mecca. And, it is inspired him to convert to Islam and also became Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba. At 626 AD, happened Battle of Raji,beetwen Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s inteligents and one Pagan Quraish Ally, Tribe of Hudhayl. At this clash, Propeth Muhammad s inteligent defeated and one member from propeth s inteligent, Khubaib ibn Adiy became hostage and enemy bring him to Mecca, Pagan Quraish s basic.

Pagan Quraish s peoples, decide to executed Khubaib at Tanim, one territories near Mecca. Said ibn Amr al-Jumahi,  one younger from Tribe of Jumah, at this year not yet convert to Islam, is one eyewitness from Khubaib  execution. He seeing, before execution, Khubaib doing prayer and Said feel, this prayer is so beautiful and perfect. After this, Khubaib executed at  cross by Pagan Quraish People. Khubaib executed because Pagan Quraish will revenge for their warriors who killed at Battle of Badr 624 AD againt Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. And, Said, who at this time still 24 years old, sleep after this event and meet Khubaib at his dream. Khubaib teach Saad that teology and Jihad ( Islamic struggle) is real life and we must defend it until die. Khubaib also tell that Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam, that loved by his shahabas, is propeth who get help from sky. It is inspired Saad for convert to Islam. He moved to Medina, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and his shahabas s basic for stay with them. Syrian Historian Abdurrahman Rafat Basya, said that Said  join several battles with Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam, from this, Battle of Khandaq at 627 AD. Ustad Abu Nasim Mukhtar, said that Said became warcommander at age of Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. According Abdurrahman Rafat, Said show example as man who prioritzed Allah  Subhanahuwataala from himself. And, second caliph from Rashidun Caliphate, Caliph Umar ibn Khattab ( ruled 634-644 AD), appointed Said as mayor at City of Homs, Syria. At begin, Said said he cannot became mayor, but Caliph Umar ibn Khattab forced him for received this position.

Said became mayor at City of Homs. Until one day,  came several messenger from Homs to Caliph Umar, report name from several poormens at this city. And, they report Said ibn Amr is one poorman. They said Said doesnt has fire at his home. Caliph Umar send 1000 Dinar to Said with messenger. Said split moneys that give by Umar s messenger to poormens at Homs. Until one day, Umar went to Homs for seeing situation at Syria. At Homs, Umar meet several civilians who reported that Said doesnt answer call from people at night. And, according them, Said also doesnt out at one day all month, and also fainted at his council.  Umar meet Said and ask about this problem.

First, Said say it is because he work at afternoon and his night to Allah. Second, Said explained that he only has one clothe that he must wash him one time for one month, and third, he said that he fainted because remember of Khubaib s insident, that at this insident Khubaib said he more prioritized Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s security. Umar give Said aids 1000 Dinar, and Said split this money to poormens at Homs.

At 20 Hijriyya, Said die at young age, at 40 years old. May Allah Subhanahuwataala bless him.
