Dont exist sources about when Hassan born and his childhood. But, knowed, Hassan is adopted son from one Ottoman Admiral, Khayr Addin Barbarossa. He life at 16 TH Century, when happened struggle beetwen Ottoman Empire and European Powers at North Africa. Kingdom Of Spain under King Ferdinand, build several colonies at North Africa and they can occupied three dynasties at North Africa, included local dynasties at Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria. Local dynasties pay tribute to Kingdom Of Spain. And, natives at North Africa , doing resistance with piracy action to Spanish s ships.
Hassan, became Ottoman Leader at Algeria. Hassan became Ottoman Governor who stay at City Of Algiers, Capital Of Algeria. King Of Spain, Charles V, doing expedition for conquer North Africa. He started it with tried to occupied Tunisia. At 1534 AD, Charles V prepare expedition for captured Tunisia from Khayr Addin Barbarossa. At August 1534 AD, Tunisia was fall to Ottoman Hand. Barbarossa captured Tunisia with 10.000 Ottoman Army from Sultan Of Tunisia, Mulay Hasan who became Kingdom Of Spain s ally. Charles V, prepare expedition to captured Tunisia. He prepared 24.000 army that consist from Italian, Spanish, Germany, and Portuguese Army , many warships and 15.000 horses for conquer Tunisia. Khayr Addin retreat from Tunisia because he doesnt has enough army for faced Charles V. Charles V occupied Tunisia and according Arabic Sources that cited by Historian Eugene Rogan, Spanish Army kill 20.000 Natives at Tunisia. Now, Kingdom Of Spain prepared plan for attack Algier, that according Historian Eugene Rogan, is last Islamic Fortress at North Africa, at this time.
At 1541 AD, Charles V and his navy moved to Algier for captured this city. According Historian Harold Lamb, Charles V bring 400 warships, and 20.000 warriors from Spain, German, and Italia and also 500 knights from Knight Of Hospitaller at Malta, Crusader Elite Army. And, Hassan Agha defended Algeria only with 900 Janissaries ( Turkish Elite Army) and several milions marines and Moors Militias (Spanish Muslims) and also several Militias from Berber (North Africa Natives) and Arabians. Hassan s army survived at City Of Algier. Charles V and his army besieged City Of Algier and they attach siege s weapons. Storm and rain attack Spanish Army s camp and prime weapon for Spanish Army, gunpowder cannot used at this situation.
Hassan s army attack Spanish Army with arrow. And, many North African Militias Natives rob Spanish s logistics until Spanish Army and his allies suffered famine. 145 Spanish Warships destroyed at this battle. And, Spanish Army s firegun cannot used at this situation. Charles V retreat from Algeria after his navy destroyed and they lost of 8000 army. Charles V, after this battle doesnt fight at maritim battle. Because, he fear with Ottoman s power.
