Zaid Ibn Thabit: Pioneer From Koran Codification.

Today, we will discuss about Zaid Ibn Thabit, pioneer from Koran Codification at Early Islamic History. He also expert at  foreign language. And, he became pioneer from Koran codification to  a book at era of Caliph Abu Bakr As-Shidiq. Zaid Ibn Thabit Al-Anshari, born at Medina, Saudi Arabia at 610 AD. He originated from Anshar ( Natives Of Medina). At 2 TH Years Of Hijriyya, when Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam at Medina mobilized Muslim Army for faced Battle Of Badr, Zaid who at this time, still 13 years old came to Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam came to army that prepared by Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  for  join Battle Of Badr. But, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam forbid him because he still children at this time. 

But, Zaid doesnt give up. He tried to focuss with knowledge and memorizing Koran (Islamic Holy Book) . Because, he will  serve Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. His mother, An-Nawar bintu Malik feel happy. She bring Zaid come to Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and tell Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam that Zaid was memorized 17 Surah from Koran. Zaid recited 17 Surah that he memorized to Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  satified with Zaid s skill. Zaid also fluent at read and write.

Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam ask Zaid to studied Jewish s alphabet and also Jewish s language, Hebrew Language. Zaid studied Hebrew Language and he can fluent speak in Hebrew  for short time. Zaid get duty from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam for write letter to Jewish People and if Jewish People send letter to Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Zaid also studied Suryani Language,  International Language at this time. Zaid, became Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s translattor. 

Zaid also became Koran  Writter at era of Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam . When Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam get revelation, he write this revelation and when Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam die, he became Koran Codificator.

After   Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  s die,  Caliph Abu Bakr As-Shidiq, first caliph from Rashidun Caliphatewho ruled from 632-634 AD, ask Zaid Ibn Thabit to codificate fragments from Koran Verses that exist at  stem of palms and white rocks, and also Muslim  s memories.  Zaid codificate Koran from this fragments and after Zaid do this, collected Koran at one text.

Factor from this codification  according Historian Imam  Ibn Kathir, because many Koran Memorizer die at Battle Of Yamama,  at 11-12 H. Caliph Abu Bakr ask Zaid Ibn Thabit to codificated Koran Fragments from stem of palms, slate, and memorization from Koran Memorizer. According Imam Ibn Kathir, at this time, Koran can codificated at one book and this book saved by Caliph Umar Ibn Khattab , second caliph from Rashidun Caliphate , and after Caliph Umar s die, this book saved by Umar s daugther, Hafsha. 

At 651 AD, Caliph Uthman Ibn Affan , ask Zaid Ibn Thabit to became chairman from comitte that revisited Koran s copy. From this project, maked 3 copies. This copies sended to Damascus, Syria, and two city at Iraq, Bashra and Kufa.  At Rashidun Caliphate Era, Zaid became consultant from Rashidun Caliphs. He became consultant at Koran knowledge.

Zaid, die at 660 AD at 60 years old . At his die, Muslims cried because lost one important scholar at their early time. May Allah bless him.
