How Islamic History written? Since when Islamic History written? This book explained how Islamic History written from age to age. According his title, Historiografi Islam, this book explain about Islamic Historiography ( History Written) from Pre-Islamic History and  7 TH Century until 20 TH Century. This book, can became one refrences about how Islamic History written from ages to ages. And, split into several chapters that explained ages to ages from Islamic Historiography.
First chapter, this book explained about basic of historiography, included primary and secondary sources, historiography s position according Islamic View and benefit from historiography. 
Second chapter from this book, tell us about Arabic Historiography before  rise of Islam. At this chapter, Yatim explained two shapes from Early Arabic Historiography at 5 TH Century.  From this shapes, Ayyam al-Arab that discuss about Arabian Tribal war  before Islamic Age and al-Ansab, that record about Arabian Families s family tree. According Badri Yatim, Family Tree is so important at Arabians Culture, because at Arabia, family tree is proudness for one Arabian Families. 
At chapter III, Yatim discuss about three Historiography s flow : Medina, Yemeni, and Iraq s flows. Flow Of Yemen, usually take refrences from Judaism Culture with important figures such as  Kab al-Ahbar ( die 32 H), Wahb Ibn Munabbih ( die 729/732 AD),  and Abid Ibn Shariyya al-Jurhumiy ( according several narration life until 300 years). Flow Of Yemen, usually also takes Arabians Folkores for their refrences. Second, Flow Of Medina that this flow have important figure from Tabiins ( Early Islamic Generation after Propeth Muhammad Shalllahu Alaihi Wasallam and his shahabas), such as Said Ibn al-Musayyab ( 634-713 AD), Urwa Ibn Zubayr Ibn al-Awwam( 643-712 AD), Ibn Shihab az-Zuhri ( 671-742 AD), and Musa Ibn Uqba  ( die 758 AD) that used Hadiths ( Islamic Oral Traditions from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and several Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba witness as main refrence for codificate Early Islamic History. And, third Iraqi s Flow with prime figure such as Awana Ibn al-Hakam ( die 764 AD), Sayf Ibn Umar al-Asadi al-Tamimi ( die 796 AD), and Abu Mikhnaf ( die 774 AD). Different with Medina and Yemen s flow, Iraqi Historians , focuss write about political event at age of Rashidun and Umayyad Caliphate.
At this chapter, Yatim also mentioned several Early Islamic Historiography s books that written by historians from 3 flows above, such as Maghazi  ( wars) by Urwa Ibn Zubayr and Ibn Shihab that tell Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s life , included Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s battles until early Umayyad Caliphate age.And also, Kitab al-Futuh al-Kabir wa al-Riddah ( book about big expansion and War Of Ridda). At end of chapter, Yatim explained, three flow from Islamic Historiography unites and mentioned several historian after three flow and his book, such as Ibn Ishaq ( die 768 AD) with his monumental book, Sirat Rasul Allah. ( Life of Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam)
At next chapter, Yatim tell about history from progress from Islamic Historiography at middle age. And he mentioned several historians at this age and his work, such as al-Tabari ( die 923 AD) with his masterpiece, Tarikh al-Umam wa al-Muluk ( History of nations and kings) that became one world history encyclopedy at this age,  al-Biruni who die at 1048 AD with his work, al-Hind.  After this chapter, next by chapter about Islamic Historiography method that doing by Islamic Historians, and chapter that discuss Islamic Historiography theme, last chapter Islamic Historiography at modern age. This book, match by beginner and Islamic History Student at college for deep Islamic Historiography,because this content concise and clear. But, this book maybe boring for several people, because dont serve picture and illustrations.
