Turgut Reis : Ottoman Admiral From Greece.

Today, we will discuss one from Ottoman Admiral from Greece who has big service at Ottoman Navy and he also popular as one Ottoman Admiral who conquer North Africa Territories and also tried to conquer Malta from Knight Of Hospitaller. Turgut Reis/ Dragut, born at Coastal Of Mugla, Turkey at 1485 AD , at Coastal Of Mediterranea, an he is one Ottoman Commander who came from Greek Ethnic. At his early life, he adherent Christiant Religion and entered Islam. Turgut, became marine at Ottoman Navy and he has big service for serve Ottoman Empire. When Ottoman Empire at age of Sultan Selim I want conquer Egypt, Turgut became admiral who  lead Ottoman Navy for attack Egypt that occupied by Mameluke Dynasty.

At 1516 AD, Sultan Selim I attack Mameluke Dynasty at Syria and around it and also Egypt, because Mameluke Dynasty make alliance with Safavid Dynasty, one Ottoman Empire main enemy.  Sultan Selim I, can defeat Mameluke Army under their sultan, Qansu Ghawri at Marj Dabiq and 1516 AD, and at this battle, Qanshu die. After this, Ottoman Army next their step to Egypt and defeat Mameluke Army at Battle Of Raidaniyya, 1517 AD, at Raidaniyya, Egypt . Mameluke Army under Toman Bay defeated and Ottoman Army can conquer Egypt. At this event, Toman Bay lead Ottoman Navy for support Egypt s s conquest by Ottoman Army from terrain. Last Mameluke Ruler at Egypt, Toman Bay executed by die execution at 1516 AD.

When Ottoman Empire ruled by Sultan Suleyman al-Qanuni ( ruled 1520-1566 AD), Turgut has big role for Ottoman Conquest at Sea Of Mediterranea. Turgut Reis , as Ottoman Admiral, make Mehdiyye/Mahdia,  one city at Tunisia, as his basic.  At 1551 AD, Turgut Reis conquer Tripoly, Libya from Knight Of Hospitaller/ST.John, that became one pirates group at Sea Of Mediterranea. According Palestinian Historian, Jihad at-Turbani, Turgut  bring 120 warships for conquer City Of Tripoly and at Turgut became Ottoman Leader at Tripoly. At 1552 AD, Turgut defeat European Navy at Battle Of Ponza and fight againt Army from Kingdom Of Napoly, Italy. Turgut can occupied Islands Of Capri, Italy and he also moved to Isand Of Catany and Island Of Corsica at Italy.

At 1560 AD, Europeans Navy that consist of Venice, Spain, Knight Of Hospitaller, Genoa, and Papal State tried to moved to North Africa Territories that was conquer by Ottoman Empire. They will re conquer Tripoly. Ottoman Navy under Bayali Pasha and Turgut Pasha moved to Island Of Jerba for faced Europeans Navy. Battle broke and Ottoman Navy can captured many European Coalitions ships. According Palestinian Historian, Jihad at-Turbani, Ottoman Navy can kill 18.000 European Coalitions Army. Many European Warriors, defended at Fortress Of Djerba and Ottoman Navy can conquer this castle.

After Turgut defeat European Coalitions, Turgut make tower from many European Warriors skulls at City Of Djerba, Tunisia. According at-Turbani, this tower achieve 3 meters at high. 

At 1565 AD, Turgut  bring Ottoman Navy for conquer Island Of Malta, basic from Knight Of Hospitaller. At this navy, he bring 4.500 Janissary ( Ottoman Elite Infantry), 7.500 Sipahi ( Ottoman Cavalry) without horse and also 18.000 enginers, marines, and light infantries.  Commander Of Hospitaller Knight, Jean de La Valette organised Malta defense and with 500 knights, 300 mercenaries and 400 marines and also militias, he can defeat Ottoman Navy, Turgut die at this battle because his head  hit by rocks of Malta s fortress.
