When discuss about history of philology, this book discuss history of philology from era of Greek Era ( 3 BC Century) that at this era, philological studies started with basic at City Of Alexandria, Egypt. And, they started study of philology from tried to read old manuscripts that written by Greek People at 8 BC Century. And, at Roman Empire age,  study about old Greek manuscript next and also develop to Latin manuscripts. Knowledge study from Roman Empire and Greek Civilization also spread to Middle East. Such as to several cities as Edessa and Antioch, Turkey and Gaza, Palestine.  And, philological studies spread to Persia, when era of Persian Emperor, Anu Shirwan at 4 TH Century, and nexted to age of Abbasid Caliphate when era of Caliph Harun al-Rashid ( ruled 786-809 AD). At this era, several  Greek Manuscripts from Egypt, Palestine, Syria. And, also discussed history of philology at India and Indonesia.  At Indonesia, philological studies started at 16 TH Century.And, uniquely, who started philological studies at Indonesia are European Traders that came to Indonesia from 16 TH Century.

When discuss about several examples from philological practise at ancient s manuscripts, this book give several examples several old manuscripts that was translatted by philolog , such as Brata Joeda that translatted by Cohen Stuart at 1860 AD, that at this edition, ancient Javaanese manuscript, Brata Joeda/ Barata Yuda translatted  to Dutch Language. And, Java at 14 th Century, a translattion from Manuscript Of Nagarakrtagarama that translatted by Pigeaud at 1960 AD.  Writter explained review from several manuscript editions that translatted and published by several philologs with year of publish. But, this book also have minus point. This book so thin and maybe dont complete for who want complete discussion about philology and also this book dont complete by picture that help explained about philological history and method. It is maybe  hard to understanded for several beginners. For get this book, maybe hard because it is old book. This book hard finded at online shops.
