Qarmatian: Extremist Shia Sect Who Became Thief Of Hajar Aswad

At Islamic History, Qarmatian knowed as one extremist Shia sect who became thief of Hajar Aswad, blackrock at Kaba. How this sect appear and how they steal Hajar Aswad. At era of Abbasid Caliph, this sect appear. According Islamic History and Research Team Of Egypt, at era of Caliph al-Mutamad ( ruled 256-279 Hijriyya). Qarmatian, at this place, appear at Bahrain, Iraq, and Syria. Qarmatian, is one Messianic Shia s movement that have radical ideology . This movement, mentioned by Qarmatian because their founder named Hamdan ibn Ashat or popular with title Qarmat. And they are adherent from Ismaelite Shia.   At 288 H, Qarmatian became big power,  when they lead by Zakrawayh. His son, Yahya ibn Zakrawayh confess as descedant from Ali ibn Abi Talib. Qarmatian, can spread at Abbasid Dynasty s territories.

Qarmatian Army, under Commander Abu al-Fawaris, destroy City Of Kufa, Iraq.  And , they can defeated by Abbasid Caliphate Army. Abu al-Fawaris killed.  According Philip.K.Hitti, at 890 AD, Qarmatian Sect was have basic at Kufa, Iraq. Followers from this sect, consist of Arabians and Nabataeans Society. At 899 AD, under al-Jannabi, they found one state at West Persia, al-Ahsa.  At 903 AD, Jannabi attack Yamama and invaded Oman. His son and successor, Abu Thahir Sulayman, attack route for Hajj. At 930 AD, according Philip.K.Hitti, Group Of Qarmatian attack Mecca and they steal Hajar Aswad.  They also tried to invaded Syria. At Khorasan, situation became emmergency after invasion of Qarmatian Group.

According Ibn Kathir, Abu Thahir tried to attack Bashra, Iraq,  at 311 Hijriyya. At this time, Abu Thahir and his army slaughter People Of Bashra. They also rob People Of Baghdad s assets, until they escaped when Abbasid Army chased them.

Abu Thahir Sulayman, at 312 Hijriyya, attack Hajj Groups who back from Mecca. Abu Thahir, captured women and childrens at this group.  Abbasid Caliph, al-Muqtadir, send army under Munis for attack Qarmatian Group who attack Hajj Caravan. Abu Thahir fear and he free prisoners that he captured at this action.  According Syrian Historian, Ibn Kathir,  at this action, Abu Thahir bring 800 warriors. It is one from terrorism action that doing by Qarmatian Group. And, at history, Qarmatian Group is one terror group that appear at Early Islamic History.

According Philip.K.Hitti, Qarmatian s sects ended, but  their ideology,  Ismaelite , influenced next radical sect, Assasin that founded at 1090 AD by Hassan ibn al Sabbah. This sect, is radical sect that doing attack to several fortress. According Hery Noer Aly, Qarmatian Sect have big role at Islamic Think, because Qarmatian Ideology, roled at philosophy. Their philosophy, give idea to several Islamic Philosopher, such as al-Farabi and Ibn Sina and also several philosophy such as Ibn Haith and Ibn Yanush Several Sufism Scholars who also influenced from their ideology are al-Hallaj, Imam Ghazali, and also al-Tawhidi..  At other article, we will discuss about Sect Of Assasin, because Sect Of Assasin is one radical sect that so influenced when Islamic History when middle age.
