Story Of Majzaa ibn Thaur at-Thadusy: Rashidun duel Champion

Today, we will discuss about Majzaa ibn Thaur at-Thadusy, Rashidun warrior champion who popular with his duel skill and he handled important role when conquest of Tustar/Shustar, one main city at Iran,  when era of Rashidun Caliph Umar ibn Khattab ( ruled 634-644 AD). According Syrian Historian , Abdurrahman Rafat Basya, Majzaa ibn Thaur is chief from  Tribe Of Bakr. He life at 7 TH Century.  According Abdurrahman, Majzaa is one brave and honoured chief.  At 638 AD, Rashidun Army can defeat Persian Army at Battle Of Qadisiyya, Iraq. Rashidun Caliphate next conquest to Sassanid Empire Of Persian s territory.  They want next conquest to Khuzestan. At Khuzestan,  exist one Persian Fortress-city, Tustar.  According Syrian Historian Ibn Kathir, one Persian Commander, Hormudhan,  doing resistance with make this city at basic. 

Hormudhan, according Ibn Kathir, doing resistance to Rashidun Army and he make alliance with Tribe Of Kurdi. Hormudhan, ruled territories Ahvaz, Manadhir, and River Of Tira. At begin, Hormudhan make peace covenant with Rashidun Caliphate. But, Hormudhan broke this covenant and attack Rashidun Army with helped from Tribe Of Kurdi. Rashidun Army can defeat him and seize his territories. Hormudhan, escaped to Tustar and make this place as his basic.

Rashidun Caliph, Umar ibn Khattab, ask Rashidun Commander who also Governor Of Kufa, Iraq, Abu Musa al-Ashari, for also invited Majzaa ibn Thaur attack Hormudhan at Tustar. Abu Musa, invited Majzaa to his army and with his army, he went to attack Tustar. Hormudhan and Persian Army, defended at City Of Tustar. According History Of Khuzestan, that quoted by Hugh Kennedy, Tustar defended for 2 year and it is strong city with fortress and trench.  According Ibn Kathir, Conquest of Tustar happened at 17 year of Hijriyya / 642 AD. Rashidun Army besieged City Of Tustar.  Rashidun Army feel hardness for entered Persian Army. At this time, happened many duels beetwen Persian and Rashidun Army s champions. Abdurrahman Rafat, illustrated Majzaa perform with good performent at many duels with Persian Army. And, according Abdurrahman Rafat, Majzaa ibn Thaur, can kill 100 warriors from Persian Army. And, Majzaa ibn Thaur make Persian Army fear. Because frustation, Persian Army tried new strategy. They defended at fortress and snatch Rashidun Army with hot catrol. Syrian Historian Ibn Kathir illustrated this battle as scarry battle that eat many victims. Majzaa, acording Ibn Kathir, became one champion at duel. At all duel, they can kill 100 enemies at all duel.

Until, one day, one Persian Warrior meet Abu Musa and tell Hormudhan was kill his brother and rob his assets. He ask Abu Musa send warrior for  breakthrough Fortress Of Tustar. Abu Musa send Majzaa and several warriors for breakthrough Fortress Of Tustar from one secret tunnel that mentioned by this Persian Warrior. Majzaa and his army swim at this tunnel, until they can entered Fortress Of Tustar and attack  fortress garrisons. Majzaa and his army can open fortress s door for other Rashidun Army.  This event, also written at History Of Khuzestan , that quoted by Hugh Kennedy.  According History Of Khuzestan, two Persian Warrior conspired with Rashidun Army and permit Rashidun Army entered from water tunnel. Whatever it is, Rashidun Army entered Fortress Of Tustar and attack Persian Garrisons. Majzaa tried to attack Hormudhan. When meet Hormudhan, he attack this commander and duel broke. Majzaa martyred at this event. Tustar can captured by Rashidun Caliphate and Hormudhan imprisoned. May Allah Subhanahuwataala bless him.
