Abbad Ibn Bishr: Shahaba who firm at his Prayer

Today, we will discuss about Abbad ibn Bishr, one shahaba who firm at his prayer, until he keep prayer though attacked by arrows. He also one martyr at Battle of Yamama againt rebel at age of Caliph Abu Bakr as-Shiddiq, second caliph from Rashidun Caliphate ( ruled 632-634 AD). Abbad, has  full name Abbad ibn Bishr ibn Waqsy ibn Zughba ibn Zaura ibn Abd Ashal. He life at 7 TH Century. And, he is one nobleman from Tribe of Aus, one tribe from Native of Medina who help Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam when Propeth Muhammad and his shahabas moved to Medina at 622 AD.

According Syrian Historian, Abdurrahman Rafat Basya, Abbad is one younger at Medina who convert to Islam because preach of Mushab ibn Umayr, one Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba who became one first preacher.  Abbad ibn Bishr, is one shahaba who bounded with Koran ( Islamic Holy Book). He always read Koran with good sound. Ummul Mukminin Aisha, widow from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam , praise that exist 3 mens from Anshar Groups who  their priority dont defeated by other people, they are Saad ibn Muadh, Usayd ibn Hudhair, and Abbad ibn Bishr.

One special Abbad s moment, is Battle of Dhat ar-Riqa. According Imam Dhahabi, Battle of Dhat ar-Riqa happened at 4 Hijriyya/625 AD or 5 Hijriyya/626 AD.  Battle of Dhat ar-Riqa, is one small battle that happened after Battle of Uhud at 625 AD. This battle is battle againt Tribe of Thalaba and Tribe of Ghatafan. Propeth Muhammad lead his army until achieve Nakhl and meet army from Tribe of Ghatafan. But, dont happened clash.  Abbad , join this battle. After battle, Propeth Muhammad and his army stopped at one Muslim Villages. And, one Villager captured Pagan Woman who leaved by her husband. When her husband came, he angry and want kill Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and his shahabas.

Until night, Propeth Muhammad ask to his army: “who want on guard tonight”?. Abbad and other shahaba, Ammar ibn Yasir, said: “We, o propeth of Allah.”

Abbad and Ammar on guard at point of village. And, at this night, Abbad pray. One enemy came to point of village. He shout Abbad with several arrows, until 3 arrows. Abbad only  pull out several arrows that nested at his body. Until, Abbad finished from his pray, and he wake Ammar and said: “Wake up, i injured.” When see Abbad and Ammar, this enemy run. Ammar ask Abbad how he doesnt wake him when  first arrow”?. Abbad said it is because he at his pray, read his favorite Surah at Koran. It is , is example from Abbad s firmness at prayer.

When age of Propeth Muhammad, he became Zakat ( special tax from Muslims) at Tribe of Sulaym and Tribe of Muzayna . And also, became guard from Propeth Muhammad Shallah Alaihi Wasallam at Battle of Tabuk 630 AD.

At goverment age of Caliph Abu Bakr as-Shiddiq ( ruled 632-634 AD),  happened Battle of Yamama againt false propeth who rebel to Rashidun Caliphate, Musaylama al-Kadhab. Abbad join with Rashidun Commander, Khalid ibn Waleed for attack Musaylama.  At Battle of Yamama, Muslims Army forced and he orated : “Destroy your swors sheath”!!.  After this, he fight until die as martyr, and Rashidun Army win this battle.
