Moment Before Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s Birthday: Elephants Army and Invasion of Mecca

Today, we will discuss about Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s birthday at 571 AD. At same year, before propeth s birth, happened one big event. Elephant Army s invasion to Mecca, until at Islamic Tradition, this year (571 AD) called by Year of Elephant according Islamic Tradition. Ibn Kathir, Syrian Historian, tell this moment. Before born from  Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam , Yemen ruled by Abraha, Governor from  Christiant Kingdom of Ethiopia . He build church at Shana, Yeman and tried to make this church for Arabians s destination s pilgrim replace Kabah at Mecca. He also write letter to Najashi/Negus, King of Ethiopia for tell his mission build this curch.  According Martin Lings, Abraha build this church with former of Queen Sheba s palace and also decorated it with marble and silver.

Until one day, one man from Tribe of Kinana  entered this church and  throw away at curch s interior. It is make Abraha angry.  This man, has blood relation with Tribe of Quraish, Native of Mecca. Abraha, want attack Mecca, Kaba s location for reply it. Abraha prepared big army for attack Mecca and also war elephant at front of army.  Several Arabian Tribes at North of Shana try to attack this army. And, they failed. Abraha captured their leader, Naufal /Nufayil ibn Habib , from Khatam, and make Naufal as his guide.

And, Abraha s army achieved Taif, Saudi Arabia. Tribe of Thaqif at Taif, worried their temple destroyed by Ethiopian Army that lead by Abraha because thought as Kaba.  They tell Abraha that this place not Kaba and they want deliver Abraha to his destination. One member from Tribe of Thaqif, Abu Righal, became guide of Abraha.  According Imam Ibn Kathir, when Abraha and his army achieved Maghmas, Abu Righal die at this place and also burried at his die s place . Arabians at this place, according Ibn Kathir and Martin Lings, throw rocks to Abu Righal s tomb at Maghmas. And, it is happened until today. Ibn Kathir said that Abu Righal, originally is descedant from Tribe of Thamud, one Arabian Ancient Tribe.

Abraha, send cavalry to outskirts of Mecca and Abraha s cavalrymens rob assets from civilians, included 200 camels  that owned by Abd Mutthalib, leader of Mecca and grandfather of Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Abraha send messenger to Mecca and said he doesnt want fight, only destroy Kaba. He also ask leader of Mecca must meet him at his camp. Abd Mutthalib came to Abraha s camp and Abd Mutthalib, ask Abraha for back his camels. Abraha disappointed. But, Abd Mutthalib said that he is owner from his camels and Allah Subhanahuwataala is owner from Kaba. Abraha ask his warriors back Abd Mutthalib s camels. Abdu Mutthalib command for Quraish Peoples for save their self because Abraha s army so strong. Abd Mutthalib and Quraish People save their self to mount near of Mecca, that from this mount, they can see Abraha s army.

Ethiopians Army entered Mecca and at this moment, Abraha s elephant doesnt moved. Abraha s  elephant s shaman, Unays ask this elephant moved. Several time Unays ask this and this elephant still stopped. And, at this time, Allah send to them several birds from sea that all birds bring 3 rocks that every regarded Ethiopian  army, make this warrior die. Nufayl ibn Habib, escaped to mount at Mecca. And, Abraha and several army can back to Shana. They regarded epidemic and Abraha die at this moment.
