When Pagan Quraish at Mecca boycoted by Arabian King from Nejd (Story of Thumama ibn Uthal)

Thumama ibn Uthal, is one Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba who at his past is King from Tribe of Hanifa at Yamama, Nejd. He , at begin, became enemy from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam, but at his end, became Propeth Muhammad s defender until boycott foods from Yamama to Mecca, basic of Pagan Quraish at this time who became one propeth s main enemy. At 6 Hijriyya/ 627 AD, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam send several letters to Arab and Non Arab Kings for invited them convert to Islam. Thumama ibn Uthal, is one King who lead Tribe of Hanifa at Nejd, Saudi Arabia, who get letter from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Thumama, at this era, is one arrogant king. He reject letter from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and has desire to fight againt Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Thumama ibn Uthal, doing terror to several shahabas. According Syrian Historian Abdurrahman Rafat Basya, Thumama ibn Uthal kill many shahabas. Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam , permit his shahabas for fight againt Thumama ibn Uthal.

One day, Thumama ibn Utha, who at this time still adherent Pagan, he went from Yamama to  Mecca for Umrah (Arabian Tradition pilgrim Mecca, and it is adopted at Islam) .  Thumama pass Medina, basic from Propeth Muhammad s goverment. Propeth Muhammad s patrol army can captured Thumama. Thumama became hostage from Propeth Muhammad s army. Propeth Muhammad s patrol army bound Thumama and  they withold Thumama at mosque for wait decide from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

When Propeth came to mosque, he ask his army for threat Thumama with good threatment. He ask his army for give Thumama good consumtion from foods at Medina and camel s milk. Until, one day, Propeth Muhammad talk with Thumama. For 2 time, Propeth Muhammad sk question for Thumama: “What you have, o Thumama.” Thumama answer that he submit if Propeth Muhammad want kill or forgive him. Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam free Thumama from hostage and Thumama, said to Propeth Muhammad that he convert to Islam. He said two shahada ( witness that Allah Subhanahuwataala is god and Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  as mark convert to Islam).

Now, Thumama ibn Uthal became Muslim.  Thumama confess his mistakes kill many shahabas. Propeth Muhammad said that Islam will erase his mistakes. Thumama said he will doing  Umrah. Propeth Muhammad said that he must doing Umrah according Islamic Teaching and teach Thumama how Umrah according Islamic Teaching.  Thumama went to Mecca for doing Umrah and he doing Umrah with recite Talbiya ( one Islamic recitation when doing Hajj or Umrah).  According Abdurrahman Rafat, Thumama is first muslim who entered City Of Mecca with recite Talbiya. Pagan Quraish People angry hear this. They take their sword for kill Thumama. And, they fear do this, because Thumama is King of Yamama. Thumama said to Pagan Quraish People, that Kingdom of Yamama will stop wheat – main food for Arabians- supply to Mecca.  And, it is real, Kingdom of Yamama stop wheat supplies to Mecca. Until, Mecca suffered famine.  Pagan Quraish Peoples, write letter to Propeth Muhammad and they tell about Thumama s strategy for boycott them. They ask Propeth Muhammad ask Thumama for stop boycott.  Propeth Muhammad, write letter for Thumama for stop boycott. And, food supply from Yamama entered City of Mecca.

According Abdurrahman Rafat, after die of Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam at 632 AD, Thumama still defend Islam.  At age of goverment Caliph Abu Bakr as-Shiddiq ( ruled 632-634 AD), first caliph from Rashidun Caliphate , false propeth from Tribe of Hanifa, Musaylama al-Kadhab, rebel to Rashidun Caliphate and confess as new propeth. Thumama invited People from Tribe of Hanifa who still loyal to Islam for attack Musaylama.  Happened Battle of Yamama beetwen Rashidun and Musaylama s loyalists. And, this battle won by Rashidun Army. May Allah Subhanahuwataala bless him.
