Uthman ibn Mazhoun: First Shahaba Who Moved to Ethiopia

Uthman ibn Mazhoun, is one from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba who moved to Habasha/Ethiopia for first time at 615 AD. He also shahaba who has unique story want single and doesnt want married, but forbid by Propeth Muhammad . He has fullname Uthman ibn Mazhoun ibn Habib ibn Wahb al-Jumahi ibn Hudhafa ibn Juma ibn Amr ibn Hushaish ibn Kab al -Jumahi. He life at 7 TH Century. At age of Jahiliyya ( Pre-Islamic age), Uthman ibn Mazhoun doesnt drink liquor. Uthman, convert to Islam  after 13 mens.  He doing Hijra ( moved with Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam) for 2 time. First time to Ethiopia at 615 AD, and second time to Medina at 622 AD.

He has several brother, from them Abdullah ibn Mazhoun al-Jumahi, and Quddama ibn Mazhoun. At 615 AD, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s preach at Mecca get disturb from Pagan Quraish s peoples. And, it is make several shahabas want moved to Ethiopia that lead by fair king, Najashi. Uthman ibn Mazhoun, became one shahaba who moved to Ethiopia. According Imam Dhahabi, Propeth Muhammad give permission to them for moved to Ethiopia. Uthman ibn Mazhoun, became member from first caravan from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahabas who moved to Habasha. Number from shahabas who moved to Habasha, numbered 83.

One day, when Uthman was achieve Habasha, spread news that Pagan Quraish Peoples at Mecca was convert to Islam. And, Uthman with several shahabas choose for back to Mecca. And, when they back to Mecca, they know this news false. Uthman s friends get tortured from Pagan Quraish. And, Uthman get security guarantee from one Pagan Quraish leader, Walid ibn Mughira, because Uthman is Walid s nephew. But, Uthman choose get torture such as his friends. He more choosed suffered like this friends than enjoy hospitality.

At 622 AD,  Uthman moved with Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  and other shahabas to Medina. One day, Uthman came to Propeth Muhammad  Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and said he will doing emasculated for focuss to worship. Propeth Muhammad Shallahu alaihi Wasallam forbid him for doing this. Propeth Muhammad advise Uthman that Islam not bring abbot s teaching and best religion is straight and tolerant religion.

And, one day, Uthman sick and it is became factor from his die. Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam visit Uthman when Uthman faced his die. And, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam feel so sad with Uthman ibn Mazhoun s die.  According Imam Dhahabi, Uthman ibn Mazhoun die at 624 AD, after Battle of Badr that also happened at 624 AD. And, his brother, Quddama ibn Mazhoun, became Governor at Bahrain at goverment era of Caliph Umar ibn Khattab ( ruled 634-644 AD), second caliph from Rashidun Caliphate.
