we will discuss about Kaab al-Ahbar, Jewish Convert who became oral historian
at age of Rashidun Caliphate. He is one early Islamic Historian, before Urwah
ibn Zubayr who became pionee of historical writing at Islamic History. Please

His title
is Abu Ishaq Kab al-Ahbar. He originated from Tribe of Dhu Ruayn, Yemen and
Judaism s adherent. He run his young age at Yemen. His fullname is Kaab ibn
Maati ibn Haitu ibn Dhi Hajari ibn Maitam ibn Saad ibn Awf ibn Adi ibn Malik
ibn Zayd. He life at 7 TH Century, and
run Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s preach age, though he
convert to Islam at era Caliph Abu Bakar as-Shiddiq ( ruled 632-634 AD), first
caliph from Rashidun Caliphate s goverment.
Kaab
s story when convert to Islam so unique. At past, his father write one citation
from Torah ( Judaism s holy book) and ask Kaab for keep this. And, when Islam
was spread at many territories, Kaab open this citation, and find characters
from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and his groups.
Kaab, convert to Islam because this.
Other versions, such as written by Historian Badri Yatim, Kaab get visit from
Ali ibn Ali Thalib and ask Ali for tell him about Propeth Muhammad Shallahu
Alaihi Wasallam s character. And, Kaab feel that Propeth Muhammad Shallahu
Alaihi Wasallam s character match that was written at Torah. After this,
Kaab convert to Islam.
After
this, at age of Caliph Umar ibn Khattab ( ruled 634-644 AD) , second Caliph from Rashidun Caliph, Kaab came to Medina, basic from Rashidun
Caliphate. At Medina, Kaab socialize
with several Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahabas . And
at Medina, he studied about Koran ( Islamic Holy Book) and Hadiths ( Islamic Oral Traditions from Propeth
Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam ) and also tell about several stories
that originated from Judaism s books. And, at end of his life, Kaab became one
big scholar.
Several
Kaab s teachers at Hadith s knowledge are Caliph Umar ibn Khattab, Shuhayb, and
Aysha, widow from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Kaab has
high integrity, and he so mastered Judaism s books. He tell many story from
propeths to several shahabas. Several shahabas who take his narrations are Abu
Hurayra, Ibn Umar, Ibn Abbas, and Muawiya.
According Badri Yatim, several Kaab s narrations recorded at several
Hadith s books, such as Sunan Abu Daud, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, and Sunan
al-Nasai. Because his intellingence, Kaab get title “Al-Ahbar” ( the ink), and Kaab, also has skill for
differentiate false and true from Judaism s books.

Kaab success preach to Ahl al-Kitab ( Jewishs and Christiants) and he success
preach until 42 Jewish Rabbis convert to Islam after hear his preach , after they hear Kaab
read them QS. Ali Imran: 85 that contained:
وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمِ دِينًۭا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ
وَهُوَ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ
“Whoever
seeks a way other than Islam,1 it will never be accepted from them, and in the
Hereafter they will be among the losers.”
Kaab,
at end of his life, moved to City of Homs at Syria, until die at 32 Hijriyya,
at age of Caliph Uthman ibn Affan ( ruled 644-656 AD), third Caliph from Rashidun
