we will discuss about Khayr addin Barbarossa, Ottoman Admiral who considered as
pirate at pop culture. Khayr addin, is one famous Ottoman Admiral at this age
and he also has service for save Muslim at Spain from repression that doing by

His
real name, is Khasraf according Jihad at-Turbani. Mehmet Maksudoglu , write
this real name is Hizir. Hizir, life beetwen 15-16 TH Century. And, his father
named Yaqub, one Sipahi ( Ottoman Cavalry) who life at Island of Midili (
Lesbos) at Greece when Ottoman Army conquer this Island at 1462 AD. Yaqub, has
fourth sons. From them Ishaq, Hizir, Oruch, and Ilyas. And, uniquely, Jihad
at-Turbani said their mother is Muslim Woman from Spain.
Though
Yaqub is one cavalry warrior, his fourth childs love sea and navigation. And,
they provocated for fight by Knight of ST.John ( Crusaders at Rhodes and Malta)
who kill Ilyas. Oruch make basic at
Jerba, Tunisia, and make alliance with Sultan of Tunisia, Abu Abdillah
Muhammad Hafshi. Oruch fight againt Spanish Navy with his brother, Hizir, and
also collect many Turkish Sailors for support them. Abu Abdillah, as their ally, get loots from their operation againt Spanish
Navy. At this time, Kingdom of Spain want occupied North Africa. And, tried to
forced Muslims at North Africa became Catholics.
At
1515 AD, Ottoman Sultan , Salim I, give two ships for gift to Oruch and his
sailors group. From their groups, also join several volunteer from Turkish
Navy, such as Qurdoglu Muslih addin Reis and Muhyiddin Reis. At this time,
Islamic Goverments at North Africa weakened. According Mehmet Maksudoglu,
several goverments at North Africa, such as Hafshid at Tunisia, Banu Zeyan at
Algeria, and Merinis at Marrakesh , that all are weak Goverment.
At
1492 AD, last Muslim Kingdom at Iberia, Granada , fall to Christiant Kingdom of
Spain and many Muslims at Spain get tortured from Kingdom of Spain. Oruch and
Hizir, collab with Ottoman Empire for save Muslims at Spain that under Kingdom
of Spain s oppresed. They , from sea way, bring many Spanish Muslims to Algeria.
Several
society figures and scholars from Algeria, ask helped to Oruch and Hizir for fight againt Spanish
Invaders. They can save Algeria from
Spanish s invasion. And, Spanish Navy that sended by King of Spain, Charles V,
achieved Algeria. Spanish Navy tried to provocated Emir of Tlemcen, Algeria for
againt Oruch. Oruch, seized City Of Tlemcen, and Spanish Navy besieged him at Tlemcen. Battle broke and Oruch with
his fighters defend Tlemcen from Spanish s siege. Until, he die at this battle.
After
this insident, Hizir became Ruler of Algeria replaced his brother. Hizir,
titled by Barbarossa ( read beard) by Europeans defated 20.000 Spanish Army who
attack Algeria. At 1519 AD, Salim I
appointed Khayr addin as Ottoman Governor at Algeria. At same years, Spanish
Garrisons at Island of Penon attack power at Algeria every Muadhin ( Muslims Adhan
caller) call Adhan ( Islamic called to pray). Khayr addin attack Island of
Penon and captured Spanish Castle at this island. Khayr addin also doing
operation to save Muslims at Spain. Charles V, forbid Muslims at Spain for
pray. And , also tortured Muslim Prayers. Khayr addin, send 36 ships that
defeat Spanish Army and bring 70.000 Spanish Muslims to Algeria. At 1533 AD, Ottoman Sultan , Sulayman
al-Qanuni, appointed Khayr addin as Ottoman Governor at Algeria and Ottoman Navy Captain.
