Story Of Ibn al-Qami: Shia Scholar Who Became Mongols Allies For Destroy Abbasid Caliphate

Today, we will discuss about Ibn al-Qami, one Shia Scholar at Baghdad, Iraq, who became Mongols Ally for destroy Abbasid Caliphate. He has full name Muayyid addin Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Abu Thalib ibn al-Qami ar-Rafidhi  al-Baghdadi. He is senior minister from Abbasid Dynasty. His nickname is Ibn al-Qami ar-Rafidhi. He born at 1195/1195 AD. And, he originated from Qom, Iran. He studied Arabic Grammatical to Ibn Ayyub Amid al-Ruasa. And, he also studied at Baghdad, Iraq. At Baghdad, he studied Koran ( Islamic Holy Book) s recitation to Abu al-Baqa Abd allah ibn Hussain al-Ukbari.  He is adherent from Shia Imamia

And, he can became Prime Minister Of Abbasid Caliphate, that is Sunni Caliphate at Middle East. He tried to spread his ideology, Shia Imamia and opposited Sunni Ideology.  He became prime minister for last Abbasid Caliph, al-Mustashim ( ruled 1242-1258 AD) .  According Syrian Historian, Ibn Kathir,  Ibn al-Qami is one  evil Shia s adherent.  According Imam Dhahab, Ibn al-Qami also disobey Muslims. He doesnt doing Friday Prayer ( that  is obligation for men at Islamic Sharia).

And, 1258 AD, is summit from Mongols Invasion at Middle East. Mongols Commander, Hulagu Khan , from 1253 AD, was moved to Iran and Mongols Army under Hulagu can destroy Group Of Assasin and also all small kingdoms that originated from Khwarizm Dynasty. According Susan Wise Bauer, at 1256 AD, Hulagu and his army cross River Of Oxus and besieged Assasin s castle at Nizari. Assasin s force, lead by Rukn al-Din.

Rukn al-Din submit to Hulagu after 1 year doing resistanve to Hulagu s army. Rukn al Din ask Hulagu for permitted went to east for submit to Great Khan ( Mongols Highest Leader) that at this time, held by Mongke Khan. Hulagu send Rukn al Din to Mongke Khan. But, when Rukn al Din achieved Mongke Khan s camp, Mongke  command for kill Rukn al Din.  At 1258 AD, Mongols Army tried to besieged City Of Baghdad, capital from Abbasid Caliphate. Ibn Kathir write that Mongols Army attack Caliphate s palace with many arrows. One arrow kill Arafa, woman slave from Caliph al-Mustashim. According Ibn Kathir, Baghdad Garrisons only consist from 10.000 cavalry and Mongols Army, bring 200.000 army for besieged Baghdad.

When Mongols Army besieged Baghdad, Ibn al-Qami tried meet Caliph al-Mustashim and he said he will negotiated with Hulagu for Baghdad s savety. After his, he meet Hulagu and make covenant for himself. After this, he meet Caliph al-Mustashim and said that Hulagu willl married his daughter with Caliph s son, Abu Bakr ibn al-Mustashin and Hulagu will make Abbasid Caliph as one federal ruler under Mongols Hegemony. Ibn al-Qami ask Caliph al-Mustashim meet Hulagu. With his family, included his son, Abu Bakr and also Abbasid army and officers. Hulagu kill them. Al-Mustashim die at hand of Hulagu. And, two Caliph s son, Ahmad and Abd ar-Rahman became Hulagu s victim. His daughters: Mubarak, Fathima, Khadija, and Maryam became hostage from Mongols Army. According Imam Dhahabi and Ibn Kathir, Mongols Army can captured Baghdad at 1258 AD  and they kill 800.000 victims.

According Imam Dhahabi, Ibn al-Qami doesnt life for long time after this event. He die with bad die 3 month after this event.
