Abu Bakr an-Najjar: Generous Scholar

 

Today, we will discuss about Abu Bakr an-Najjar, one scholar from Baghdad, Iraq, who popular with his generousity. According Imam Dhahabi, he is one honest scholar and teacher at Mosque of Al-Manshour, Baghdad. An, also expert at Fiqh according School of Hanbali at this age. Abu Bakr an-Najjar, has original name Ahmad ibn Salman ibn Hassan ibn Israel ibn Yunus. He born at 253 Hijriyya ( circa 9 TH Century), at era of Abbasid Caliphate. And, he also originated from Baghdad, capital from Abbasid Caliphate. Mentioned that he originate from one highland at Baghdad . He is one blindman, and he studied with method his teacher read to him and he listen. Abu Bakr an-Najjar, narrated many Hadiths ( Islamic Oral Tradition from Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam ) and he also write one book, that also titled As-Sunan, such as title book that written by Imam Tirmidhi with title Sunan Tirmidhi and book that written by Imam Abu Dawud with title Sunan Abu Dawud. Though born as blindman, an-Najjar can became scholar who memorized many Hadiths at his age. He  placed one level with  Yahya ibn Shaid. And, his other name is Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ( dont confused with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi , leader of ISIS who die at 2019 AD)

An-Najjar, can became one popular scholar from School of Hanbal and he also became teacher at council at Mosque of Al-Manshour. Imam Dhahabi said that An-Najjar teach at two council at this mosque. He teach at before pray for Fiqh ( Islamic law) and after pray for dictation.

Imam Dhahabi said that An-Najjar, was write book about different of argument. And,  before his age, is age from rise of 4 Schools from Sunni Islam: Shafii, Hanafi, Hanbali, and Maliki. And, at this time also different of arguments at Islamic Interpretation, appear at group of scholars.  Imam Dhahabi also ever tell about one debate at 372 Hijriyya that invited scholars from Sunni, Non Sunni, and also other religion clerics, such as From Jewishs, Christiants, and Zoroastrianism.

Also, Imam Dhahabi said that An-Najjar usually to doing fasting of Ad-Dahr. Fasting of ad-Dahr is fasting that doing breaking the fast with one cut from bread.  And, every near with night of Friday, he give alms with this bread. Not enough many sources about his bioraphy. Important he die at 433 Hijriyya.  May Allah Subhanahuwataala bless him.
