Story Of Ibn al-Arabi:Spain Mystician and Philosopher

Ibn al-Arabi, has fullname Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn al-Arabi al-Andalusi al-Isybili al-Maliki. He born at 1165 AD at Valencia, Spain. According Imam Dhahabi, Ibn al-Arabi studied to Hassan ibn Umar al-Hauzani and several other scholars at Spain.

He studied Fiqh ( Islamic law) , from Abu Hamid al-Ghazali, Abu Bakar ash-Shasi, al-Allama al-Adib, Abu Zakaria at-Tabrizi, and other scholars. Important for know, Abu Hamid al-Ghazali at this different with Abu Hamid al-Ghazali, Persian Scholar who life at 1058-1111 AD. For know his biography, you can access this article:

He doing journey with his father, Abdullah ibn Muhammad. And, at journey, his father die at Egypt ,and burried at Jerusalem, Palestine. After this, Ibn al-Arabi back to Spain. He write many works, such as al-Aridhah al-Ahwazi fi Syarh Jami Abi Isa at-Tirmidzi, Kaukab al-Hadits wa Al-Musaslsalat, al-Ashnaf, Ummahat Masail, Nuzhah an-Nazhirah, Satru al-Aurah, and other.

Mentioned by Imam Dhahabi, Ibn al-Arabi is humble leader. He became judge at Sevilla, Spain. His policies at Seville praised by many people. He also love teach and write about knowledge. Imam Dhahabi said that Ibn al-Arabi write many book at Fiqh, Ushul Fiqh ( Fiqh s basic), Koran ( Islamic Holy Book), Islamic Grammatical, and history.  Ibn al-Arabi also make fence at Sevilla with his money.

One biggest Ibn al-Arabi s work is Futuhat al-Makkiyah.  This book tell about creature of universe, propechy, logic,  interpretation from several Koran ( Islamic Holy Book) s verses, and mystic at universe.

Other scholar, Ibn al-Arabi also one traveler. At 1193 AD, he leaved Spain and moved to Tunisia. At 1202 AD,  he doing pilgrimageto Mecca.  He travel to Egypt, Mecca, Syria, and Anatolia, until at 1233 AD, he stay at Damascus, Syria, until his die at 1240 AD. Before his die, he give permission to Ayyubid Ruler at Damascus, Muzhafar addin Musa for teach all his books. He has 90 students who all them  became religion teachers.
